In its 93 years of history, Fantini Cosmi has preserved its nature as a family business without ever giving up its “Italian heart”. A distinctive feature that it has always been able to express in its products, paying great attention to design.
Fantini Cosmi’s commitment to aesthetic care has been growing hand in hand with the technological innovation that guides its Research and Development. In addition to functionality and safety, the stylistic component has always been a staple in the design of every new product. Thermostats, programmable thermostats, units for controlled mechanical ventilation, but also components for industry, have received awards and recognitions, in addition to the most important appreciation: that of installers and Italians who have chosen the quality of made-in-Italy and Fantini Cosmi.
Precursors to the use of icons
Since the launch in 1985 of the first digital programmable thermostat produced in Italy, Intellitherm C21, Fantini Cosmi has tried to make it easy for anyone to use the technology. A challenge that is not easy, especially if you consider that there were no digital programmable thermostats in Italy at that time.
Intellitherm C21
For the launch of the C21, Fantini Cosmi entrusted Flora Sala – an art director who still collaborates with the company today – with the task of being able to guide the user in the use of a device with new features. The mechanical programmable thermostats on the market were controlled with a wheel, while the new C21 had 4 sliders that corresponded to different functions. To guide the user and make them understand that each cursor had its own specific function, Flora created new graphic symbols to be associated with the new features and cursors on the device, bypassing the so-called “icons”.
Distinguished signatures for highly successful programmable thermostats
In the years that followed, the company entrusted the aesthetic design of other devices to real icons of Italian style such as Giorgetto Giugiaro. The Intellitherm C25 and C26 programmable thermostats were designed by the famous designer and were enormously commercially successful, effectively bringing the design and technology of Fantini Cosmi products into the homes of Italians. Years later, in 2003, Giugiaro designed two other programmable thermostats for the company, the Intellitherm C75 and C76 models, with soft and sinuous lines.
Another important collaboration is the one in progress since 2005 with the designer Marco Fossati, who in over 12 years of relationship has designed numerous devices for Fantini Cosmi, such as the built-in thermostats C37 and C38, launched on the market during the 2018 edition of MCE. Added to these are the series of touchscreen thermostats Intellicomfort CH180 and Wi-Fi touchscreens Intellitouch CH193, excellent examples of a design with clean and elegant lines. And, previously, the C60/C63 thermostats and the Intellitherm C68, Intellicomfort CH140, CH141 and CH150 programmable thermostats, the latter awarded the “Comfort&Design” award during ExpoComfort.
International awards for ventilation
Another important liaison with an Italian industrial design firm is that with Marcello Vecchi, who collaborated with Fantini Cosmi from 2010 to 2014, designing the first universal extraction fan for the Aspira brand: Aspirante. A model with an unmistakable style, which the designer then evolved into the successful Aspirvelo series.
In 2021, great success was achieved by ECOCOMFORT 2 Smart, a decentralised controlled mechanical ventilation unit designed by Marco Fossati, who won the prestigious international Red Dot Design Award 2021 for his ability to combine cutting-edge technological content with high-quality design.
Beautiful, intelligent smart home products
Today, Fantini Cosmi’s wide range of products for thermoregulation and ventilation includes products that can satisfy any need, also in terms of “furnishings”.
Products such as Ecocomfort 2 Smart and RHINOCOMFORT for air exchange, or like the Wi-Fi programmable thermostats of the C800 series, perfectly demonstrate how features for intelligent comfort management can coexist with attention to aesthetics.
